Planning a business trip to the Gold Coast? Whether you’re attending a conference, meeting clients, or working on a project, the Gold Coast offers a vibrant and convenient location for business travellers. Here’s everything you need to know to make your trip smooth and productive.
Getting to the Gold Coast
Gold Coast Airport (OOL)
The Gold Coast Airport is the main gateway to the region and is conveniently located just 40 minutes drive from Surfers Paradise. If you’re heading to the Gold Coast Convention Centre, the trip is a little shorter. The airport is well-connected with various transportation options:
- Uber and Bus: The Gold Coast Airport offers efficient Uber services and bus options that can take you directly to your accommodation.
- Professional Chauffeurs and Premium Car Rentals: For a more luxurious experience, consider booking a professional chauffeur or renting a premium car. Contact us for more details and to arrange your transportation.
Navigating Local Transportation
At the time of writing (July 2024), the new GC tram line construction is causing some disruptions to traffic. Expect the journey to Surfers Paradise to take up to 1 hour during peak construction times. However, once the tram line is complete, it will provide an excellent public transport option for travellers.
Best Times to Visit
The Gold Coast is a popular destination year-round, but there are peak periods to keep in mind:
- School Holidays: December to January and June to July can be particularly busy, with many families visiting the area.
- Event Season: Major events like the Gold Coast Marathon in July and the Schoolies Week in November can also increase visitor numbers. IMPORTANT NOTE: Avoid Surfer Paradise if you are joining us during Schoolies week, Broadbeach is a much smarter option.
Where to Stay
Finding the right accommodation is crucial for a successful business trip. Here are some top recommendations near key business hubs:
- The Star Grand at The Star Gold Coast: Luxury accommodation Gold Coast with extensive amenities and a casino for evening entertainment.
- Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach: Elegant rooms and exceptional service, just minutes from the convention center.
- Meriton Suites Broadbeach: Spacious suites with kitchen facilities, ideal for longer stays.
Things to Do
While business may be your primary focus, the Gold Coast offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation and entertainment:
- Beaches: Enjoy the stunning beaches of Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, and Burleigh Heads.
- Dining: Explore world-class dining options, from casual beachfront cafes to fine dining restaurants. Our local favourite is Etsu, a super cool Japanese restaurant hidden away behind a secret door on the side of the highway in Mermaid Beach!
- Entertainment: If you have time, visit attractions like Sea World, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Top Golf or go for a stroll down Cavil Avenue, Surfers Paradise.
Practical Tips
- Pack Smart: The Gold Coast has a subtropical climate, so pack light, breathable clothing. Don’t forget your business attire for meetings though 😉
- Health and Fitness: Many hotels offer fitness centers and pools. But our new favourite Gym is Lime Gym in Broadbeach (Views of the Surf!)
